THUNDER BAY’S CHIEF OF POLICE J.P. LEVESQUE

The northwestern Ontario’s city police force has been accused repeatedly of racism in it’s handling a string of drownings. The police Chief himself was charged with obstruction of justice, and the city as a whole recorded the highest hate crimes according to Statistics Canada. When top officials like mayors and Chiefs of police depts. are charged with crimes it shows a high levels of dyfunctionality.

The system is broken when the media does not report the news with out bias, the accountability for the leaders on the local level is a let down, like the accountability at the federal level. The Special Investigations Unit needs to hold all charged with crimes to the fullest extent of the law, other wise the law is not worth the paper it is written on.

The media like the Cronicle Journal published an editorial suggesting policing and racial hatred, is not problems like they are saying. Sylvie Hauth says that there was no policing crisis, the charges against the mayor are said business as usual. This is an utter failure of the leaders in the public trust.

The R.C.M.P. needs to step in and take over these corrupt leaders and expose the corruption, not just in Thunder Bay but across Canada.
